Garment Sizing Reference

This is a generalized garment sizing guide that Mom & Zoey uses across our collections. These measurements are for reference purposes only and represent typical garment dimensions for each age range. Individual products may vary slightly based on style, fabric, and design.

Understanding This Guide

The measurements shown in our size charts are garment measurements, not body measurements. This means we measure the actual clothing item when laid flat.

What the Measurements Mean:

  • Height & Weight: General age-appropriate ranges to help you identify the right starting size for your child.
  • Chest/Waist/Hip (Round): Full circumference of the garment when measured all the way around. These are shown as ranges to account for ease and comfort built into each piece.
  • Length: From the highest point of shoulder (HPS) to the hem, or from waist to hem for bottoms. Shown as a range to reflect our relaxed, comfortable fits.

Why Ranges Matter

You'll notice we provide measurement ranges (e.g., "23–25 in") rather than exact numbers. This is intentional and reflects:

  • Natural fabric behavior — organic cotton softens and relaxes beautifully with wear
  • Design ease — we build in extra room for comfort, movement, and layering
  • Growing room — our pieces are designed to last through growth spurts
  • Style variation — different cuts (relaxed, fitted, flowy) affect final measurements

Using This Guide Effectively

  1. Start with your child's measurements — Measure their height and weight, then check chest/waist/hip if possible.
  2. Compare to our ranges — Look for where your child's measurements fall within our size ranges.
  3. Consider the style — Some pieces are meant to be looser, others more fitted. Product descriptions will guide you.
  4. When in doubt, size up — Our natural fabrics are forgiving, and a little extra room means longer wear.
